The changes to this EPCOT restaurant are even bigger than we thought.

Earlier this month, we brought you some news about changes to the menu of EPCOT’s Takumi-Tei restaurant. At the time, the restaurant announced their menu was undergoing “a significant transformation” with each of the courses – – 菊-KIKU (Omnivorous), 蓮-HASU (Plant-based), and 向日葵-HIMAWARI (Children’s) – – being “meticulously redesigned.” However, we’ve just learned about another change coming to the restaurant soon.
According to a recent confirmation email from Takumi-Tei, the restaurant will no longer offer discounts for Disney Vacation Club Members or Walt Disney World Annual Passholders as of September 1st. This is in addition to the fact that the restaurant does not participate in the Disney Dining Plan.
The lack of discounts is especially noteworthy for Takumi-Tei, as the restaurant is one of the most expensive in-park dining locations at Walt Disney World, with both the 菊-KIKU and 蓮-HASU menus – – each of which change along with the seasons – – costing $250 per-person.

For that high cost, Takumi-Tei provides one of the most interesting dining experiences at EPCOT. The restaurant’s changing menus are built around a multicourse omakase tasting concept that offers “creatively prepared, Japanese-inspired dishes” Omakase, which loosely translates to “leave it up to the chef” is a “gastronomical experience” during which the chef curates the meal. Notably, the restaurant offers no a la carte or substitution options outside of food allergies, which have to be called in beforehand.

In addition to the unique menu, Takumi-Tei has two further rules that are relatively rare in Disney World. First, the restaurant has a signature dining experience dress code that calls for clean and neat attire that “adheres to the restaurant’s sophisticated and upscale aesthetic.” Secondly, Takumi-Tei has an age requirement, only welcoming guests ages 8 AND ABOVE.

Takumi-Tei is one of Walt Disney World’s most interesting – – and most expensive – – in-park dining options at Walt Disney World. However, starting next month, Annual Passholders and Vacation Club Members will not be able to enjoy it at a discount as of September 1st. Stay tuned to AE for more Disney World dining news.
