The 2 Disney World Skyliner Hacks Experts Try to Gatekeep

One of the best things about visiting Disney World and staying on Disney property is how easy it is to get around the resort, even if you’re not driving.

Disney World has an excellent transportation system that consists of buses, the Monorail, and boats. It’s newest transportation system, though, the Skyliner, is one of our favorite ways of getting around — it’s almost like an attraction itself. Now, we’re sharing some secrets from AllEars readers that you need to know about riding the Skyliner.

We asked AllEars readers what their best Skyliner hack was, and they shared their faves with us. There were two that we thought were especially good, so we’re sharing those with everyone.

Ride at night/during fireworks

Okay, hear us out. If you’re in EPCOT, skip sticking around for the nighttime show and head to the Skyliner station just before the fireworks begin. Get on the Skyliner and watch the show FROM THE SKY as you make your way back to your hotel’s Skyliner station. You’ll get an exclusive look at the fireworks without having to deal with the fireworks crowds.

However, any time of night is great for riding the Skyliner, especially seeing the resort lit up — it makes for a great view.

Avoid at park open and close

Just like any other Disney World transportation, lines are going to be the longest for the Skyliner just before park open and park close. If you don’t want to wait in a long line, just wait a little later in the morning to get in line and try to catch a ride back from the park before the park closes.

However, if you DO want to rope drop EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, start lining up at the Skyliner station BEFORE it opens to be one of the first on the Skyliner.

If you will be relying on the Skyliner for transportation during your time in Disney World, you will want to keep an eye on the refurbishment schedule Disney will release that could close the Skyliner. You’ll also want to be weather aware because bad weather will also shut the Skyliner down. In both instances, buses will be provided as a transportation alternative.  However, the Skyliner is one of the most fun modes of transportation at Disney World, as well as the most convenient if you’re traveling to EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or the Skyliner hotels.
