REVIEW: When Disney Makes Us Choose Between Two NEW Snacks in EPCOT’s France Pavilion, We’ll Inevitably Do THIS

Ok everyone — we’re not too proud to admit that we’ve got a problem with restraint when it comes to Disney World snacks and treats especially when they pop up in EPCOT. While we pride ourselves on keeping up with all the latest menu changes, festival booths arriving around the World Showcase, and limited-time treats popping up all over Disney World, occasionally, we run across one that really makes us feel like we’re racing the rest of the world to get our hands on — for good reason.

One of our favorite stops to make in EPCOT!

We heard a colorful change was coming to one of our favorite treat stops around EPCOT’s World Showcase so naturally this escalated into a “run, don’t walk” type situation where we HAD to run out and investigate.

Our search for new snacks led us all the way out into France around the World Showcase of EPCOT. We’d heard that one of our favorite restaurants to stop by for a frozen treat had just received an upgrade, so, you know we had to try it out! We set course for L’Artisan des Glaces and quickly hopped in line!

L’Artisan des Glaces

If you’ve never ventured out to this “hole in the wall” type restaurant allow us to help you get acquainted. This spot serves 16 handcrafted ice creams and sorbets as frozen treats, some of which can be served sandwich style or with alcohol! While were BIG fans of the typical treats they’re used to serving here, we were in the mood to “plus-up” our experience, so we decided to try out their newest offerings — flavored cones!

Flavored cones from The Konery

That’s right, you heard us correctly — flavored cones! Right now, you can enhance your experience with a couple of new flavors you won’t find in the ice cream and sorbet concoctions. These vibrant cones are from The Konery nestled in Brooklyn, and are only a sampling over around a dozen or so of their delicious cone flavors. Right now, L’Artisan des Glaces is only offering your ice cream upgrade with two flavors of either lavender or red velvet cake. These cones will come with a single scoop of either ice cream or sorbet for just $9.95 ($2 more than a regular single scoop cone).

All the flavors

We found ourselves being torn while trying to choose so, we made the hard decision to try BOTH! For our first treat, we opted for the lavender flavored cone with a single scoop of piña colada sorbet.

As you can imagine the piña colada sorbet was so sweet and tropical against the floral tones of the lavender cone. However, we thought the taste was pretty subtle at first (but could totally be attributed to the more prominent piña colada flavor of the sorbet).

So pretty!

Once we got down to just the cone, that’s when this one really shined for us! The aftertaste really brought that lavender taste to life for us and we found it to be simply delightful without leaving a weird coating in your mouth after devouring the cone.

Like we said, we’ve got a problem when it comes to being presented with choices (others may call it self-control but whatevs) so we said “why not” and decided to try out the other flavor. Say, hello to this beauty we’ve nicknamed “perfection”! It’s mango sorbet scooped into a red velvet cake flavored cone.

If you’ve got a keen eye, you might notice an extra scoop in this one but, typically, these pretty cones will typically come with one scoop so we feel like the Cast Member serving us may have just been nice enough to give us an extra scoop for this one.

So bright!

Just as before we couldn’t get over how fresh and fruity the mango flavor was in the sorbet — it was almost like biting into the fruit itself with the juices in a more frozen form but that’s not what we’re really here to talk about. The red velvet cake cone was delicious, but calling it a true “red velvet” flavor could have been a bit of a stretch to us. The taste we got out of this one is almost the same as biting into that top baked layer of red velvet cake that’s not been met with icing yet. It’s still a fun flavor to add to the cone, and detectable, but admittedly, not quite our favorite between the two. However, that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t opt to get this one again — it just means we happened to have liked the lavender more for this particular outing.

Time for some ice cream!

Overall, it seems like you really can’t go wrong with either of these new flavored cones and hearing there could be more flavors to choose from in the future, certainly piques our interest. You can bet if and when new flavors are introduced to the flavored cone lineup we’ll be one of the first ones to try them all!

  1. The Mango sorbet is always great, will certainly try it on the red velvet cone as I think it makes a good pairing.
