Disney Reveals TRON and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Will Use Standby Lines During Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Let’s face it: the virtual queue system at Disney World can be a real pain. However, one upcoming Magic Kingdom event will alleviate the stress of using a virtual queue by temporarily removing it altogether.

The virtual queue system has been used by several new/major Disney attractions over the past few years in an effort to sift demand and organize queues for extra-popular attractions. The virtual queue has been the topic of controversy, especially when it comes to attractions that have been around for a while now that still employ the queue and the process of joining the queue at 7AM and 1PM. However, guests coming out to Disney World for a popular Halloween party won’t have to worry about the virtual queue system at all!

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom is an after-hours event from August 9th through October 31st, 2024. This separately ticketed party allows guests to experience specialty entertainment (like Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade), trick-or-treat, meet characters in special Halloween outfits, eat event-exclusive themed treats, dress up in costumes, and more. Of course, guests also get access to Magic Kingdom’s rides!

Magic Kingdom has TWO rides that use the virtual queue system, but it appears neither will use it during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! According to the official Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween website, both TRON Lightcycle / Run and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will offer standby queues in place of the virtual queue during the event.

Tiana’s Bayou just opened last month in Frontierland and has predictably utilized the virtual queue to manage crowds. Queue access has also been available via Genie+.

As for TRON, the Tomorrowland coaster has used the virtual queue system ever since it opened in early 2023. The ride is unavailable via Genie+ despite having an individual Lightning Lane and some guests (like ourselves) are wondering when the ride will drop the virtual queue and offer a fulltime standby option.

While we wait for these major attractions to move away from the virtual queue system, it’s nice to know that we’ll be able to experience them without any added hassle during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!
