We’re Already WORRIED About This Newly Reopened Hollywood Studios Ride

An iconic ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been closed for MONTHS. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith was in need of some TLC, but that meant we weren’t able to ride it for a while.

So, of course, we were thrilled when we heard it was going to open EARLY on July 1stBut, we were shocked even more when the ride soft opened even EARLIER today, June 30th!

After a surprise soft opening, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is ready to officially reopen today, July 1st! Well, it’s supposed to be ready to reopen today, anyway. We got to hop on this stretch limo roller coaster on June 30th when it surprisingly opened early and didn’t notice any major changes. But, things aren’t looking so hot this morning…

It’s OPEN! Kind of.

Unfortunately, on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’s official opening day, July 1st, the ride failed to open with the rest of the park. We spotted the update on My Disney Experience, the official Disney World app, which is a great way to get the latest updates on rides and more when you’re in the parks.

Cast Members were stationed out front to let everyone waiting know that the ride wasn’t ready to open quite yet, and they didn’t give an estimate on when it might be up and running.

Technical difficulties

We stuck around for a bit and, sure enough, we started hearing cheers and folks began forming a line again. A Cast Member came out and said that they were under the impression the ride would be opening soon, but couldn’t say officially when. A few minutes later, the music in the queue turned on, so it seems like things are getting ready to go!

We’ll keep you updated on the status of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster on its opening day, but this is a good reminder that things don’t always go as planned — even at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
