Why EPCOT’s New Attraction Is a NIGHTMARE for Anxious People

We have been waiting for this moment for years, and the time has finally come! CommuniCore Hall and Plaza are finally open in EPCOT and a new show has made its debut.

An anxious person’s worst nightmare?

However, we have a bit of a warning if you are an anxious person, as EPCOT’s newest attraction may not be the best option for you.

“¡Celebración Encanto!” is a new show that debuted at CommuniCore Plaza on June 10th. The show is about 20 minutes long and features iconic songs and characters from Encanto. The show is a lot of fun and high-energy, and there is plenty of dancing involved.

Hi Mirabel!

The show starts off with a host asking some trivia questions and teaching the audience some Spanish words. Afterwards, the dancing begins, and dancers select audience members to participate in the show. They mostly choose kids, but they also select a few adults to participate in the show. At the conclusion of the show there is a dance party that lasts for about 10 minutes.

It can be anxiety inducing to be watching a show with audience participation. While you want to enjoy the show, you are worried that you might be selected and have to go on stage. Or you may try to be convinced to join the dance party when your anxiety says otherwise.

While this show could definitely be the worst nightmare for an anxious person (dancing on stage in front of a huge group does not scream a fun afternoon), we do have a few tips if you want to enjoy the show, but not be recruited as a performer. We suggest watching the show from a bit farther back. The performers mostly choose audience members toward the front, and those that are getting into the dancing already. You can also always decline joining the show!

I thought we didn’t talk about Bruno?

The dance party at the end is completely optional to join, although you may find yourself having a lot of fun! At the end of the day, the show is supposed to be a fun experience so try not to let the anxiety of audience participation scare you away.

The new show is lots of fun and includes so many great songs from the movie. Even if dancing isn’t your thing, we think you will have a smile on your face after the show is over.

The “¡Celebración Encanto!” show is a part of the final piece of the EPCOT transformation. The transformation has been years in the making and concluded with the opening of CommuniCore Hall and Plaza. These areas will be open year-round, but they are specifically designed with festival programming in mind. However, the first festival they will be utilized for, the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, won’t be starting until August.

  1. Truth! I was drug into a performance at California Adventure despite my “can’t dance” protest. Ensuing nightmare at the public torture session for the crowd, me and performers lasts until this day.
