If These Photos Look Familiar To You, You’re a Real Magic Kingdom OG

When you think of Fantasyland in Disney World, you likely immediately think of it’s a small world, Peter Pan’s Flight, and maybe Prince Charming Regal Carrousel.

But there’s another popular ride that just celebrated its 25th Anniversary that we adore, and feel we need to highlight. Let’s flashback to 25+ years ago when The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh was first being announced!

Disney recently shared a plethora of old photos of the attraction, dating from its debut announcement all the way through its opening! If you remember seeing some of these views in person, you’re truly a Magic Kingdom OG!

Before the attraction was officially announced, The Hundred Acre Woods characters were prominent in the parks, getting their own Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party float in 1997!

In 1998, the first signage for the new ride was debuted in Magic Kingdom, stating it would arrive in 1999.

Sure enough, the ride opened its doors to the public on June 4th, 1999! It looked very different back then!

Pooh and his friends have ventured outside the Hundred Acre Woods since about 2000, when they took a trip to the front of the castle…

…and they also made a special appearance in the 2001 Share A Dream Come True Parade. They’ve also been spotted in Animal Kingdom in 2011!

Now, you can see them nearly every day in the Crystal Palace and over in the Hundred Acre Woods in Fantasyland AND sometimes in EPCOT!

If the front of the ride looks different, that’s because it (and the queue) was reimagined in 2010 to blend in better with the new Fantasyland expansion. This included relocating a 120-ton tree! Now, the queue is more interactive, and kids can explore Tigger’s Bouncy Place, Rabbit’s Garden, Pooh’s Hunny Hives, and more as they walk through.

If you’re heading to Magic Kingdom soon, keep in mind that we don’t necessarily recommend rope dropping The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh, as it generally doesn’t get as high of a wait time as Peter Pan’s Flight or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. If you have Genie+ for the day, it’s typically not too difficult to get a Lightning Lane for the attraction.
