When Tiana from Disney’s Princess and the Frog movie sang, “People gonna come here from everywhere,” in her song “Almost There,” she wasn’t kidding! Now that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom is opening this June (the ride opens to EVERYONE on the 28th), people can’t stop talking about this colorful, musical new attraction!
Let’s back up for a moment. Splash Mountain closed in January 2023 to make way for a NEW ride, and we’ve been keeping our eyes out for updates as the Princess and the Frog-themed construction progressed. We’ve shown off some sneak peeks of the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride, but now, we need to talk about the SOUVENIRS! In fact, Disney just gave us a special look inside the newly refurbished Critter Co-Op. Wanna see our favorite new souvenir? We have a feeling this one is going to be POPULAR.
We went INSIDE the new Critter Co-Op shop! This little store is located just beside the entrance to the attraction. There are lots of new details and nods to the ride, so look out for themed posters on the walls, adorable new characters, and some fun paintings!
Now, keep in mind that when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens on June 28th, all the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure souvenir collections and other Princess and the Frog-inspired merchandise will be available at the Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A.
Shortly after Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens, you’ll soon be able to find the merchandise at Critter Co-Op in Frontierland.
Over at the exit of the ride, the old Splash Down photos shop will be replaced by Tiana’s Bayou General. Stay tuned for more details on this store!
OK, now, let’s talk souvenirs. Disney is releasing a lot — and we mean a LOT — of new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure souvenirs. In fact, we previewed over 60 products!
After getting the chance to see it allll, there was one special item that really caught our eye. Meet the new Interactive Firefly. If you love it when your MagicBand+ lights up in sync with the fireworks or triggers special effects around the parks, you’re gonna love this.
As the name implies, the new Interactive Firefly LOVES to be around other fireflies. In fact, it will light up when near another one to say hello! There are six light frequencies for these toys, and those flashing sequences are their way of communicating! Sadly, us humans don’t have a direct translation from human to firefly, so we can’t quite tell you what those little guys are saying to each other. But if we had to guess, we’d say they’re probably chatting about Tiana’s big Mardi Gras event!
To activate your new Firefly friend, you can push the button on his back. That allows him to interact with other fireflies! These toys last for several hours, and it takes about thirty minutes for a full recharge. The jar holds about five full charges, so you can play with your Firefly throughout the day!
Wanna know the best part? This guy doubles as a nightlight! We love a cozy, warm light at night — especially from a firefly.
We loved visiting this new merchandise location in Magic Kingdom — the store is filled with food and music-themed details. If you look closely, you might even spot some firefly magic!
Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members will be able to use their merchandise discounts immediately but note that Cast Members will not be able to use their discounts for the first 30 days that the souvenirs debut.

That Firefly could cause nightmares. What did they do to sweet little Ray, the recently deceased beloved firefly? Looks like Disney put more time into a new gift shop than they did creating a beautiful attraction. I love shopping at Disney World probably more than I should; hope the rest of the merchandise won’t scare small children
