We are almost there (although it will be at least another day now…). We were in Magic Kingdom recently for a preview of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, but we ran into some issues.

Unfortunately, right before our preview time the ride went down, and we noticed that Cast Members were out evacuating the logs. However, we remained hopeful that we would still be able to experience it!
We were fortunate to have the opportunity to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure during Cast Member previews. These previews have been going on since early June, and the ride had been facing some issues prior to our visit.

We knew it wasn’t a good sign when we saw the ride being evacuated around 12PM. We hung around for a bit in hopes that the ride would come back up and we could take a spin on it. However, after a couple of close calls, at around 3PM we were told that we wouldn’t be able to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure today. We are still holding out hope we can ride someday soon though!
If you are planning to preview the ride, keep in mind that this could happen to you. Hopefully, the ride will be up and ready to go by the time its official opening day (June 28th) hits, but there aren’t any guarantees.

It’s unclear why exactly the ride has been having so many issues. This is the first time the ride has been operating more continuously since Splash Mountain closed in January 2023. This ride has lots of technical elements and we know that they are using these previews to help work out kinks. The previews not only provide an opportunity for Cast Members to operate the ride with riders but also to see how the ride performs in operational conditions.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to officially open on June 28th, 2024, in Magic Kingdom. While it has seen a fair number of issues during previews, this is one of the big reasons why Disney World does previews. They want to work out the kinks ahead of the grand opening. So, here’s to hoping that we will be able to experience this ride soon!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure takes place where The Princess and the Frog leaves off. Tiana is throwing a Mardi Gras celebration to thank her community for their support of her restaurant. However, she realizes that she is missing a key ingredient for the celebration, and she needs us to help!

The missing ingredient is a band for the Mardi Gras celebration, so we join Tiana on an adventure to find the missing ingredient. On our adventure, we come across a variety of critters to form a critter band and save the celebration. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a reimagining of Splash Mountain and is still using the same ride track. What did change is the overall storyline, as well as the design within the ride. You will still experience the same five-story drop as you did on Splash Mountain and the logs will be moving along the same path.

While this ride has resulted in people feeling like Disney has dropped the ball, we are hoping to experience this ride in person before we pass too much judgment. Our readers have mentioned that they don’t like the lack of conflict or that Dr. Facilier doesn’t appear anywhere in the ride. Many have said that there seems to be a lack of a storyline, and finding a critter band isn’t piquing everyone’s interest. Disney World has released a full video ride-through of the ride, and some are also saying that it appears certain areas are lacking things to look at.

“Evacuating the logs”? Eeewwwww.
This typically happens on new rides. It happened on Hagrid’s Magical Creature ride a couple of times. That’s why I’m not riding it until 2025 when all the kinks should be worked out. On a side note, not a fan of screens on the ride…seems like a short cut to what Walt wanted to do in the first place…animatronics.
