7 Disney World Restaurants That Scream “This Is My First Time at Disney World”

Not all Disney World restaurants are the same.

T-REX

Some are truly spectacular and others…well, let’s say they’re not quite as stellar, but today we’re not talking about those. Nope, we’re talking about the “special” category of Disney World restaurants that if you choose, they scream “This Is My First Time at Disney World!” Let’s dive in!

Rainforest Cafe

Rainforest Cafe is located both in Disney Springs and right outside Animal Kingdom. This restaurant’s claim to fame is having a bunch of animatronic jungle animals spread out throughout the restaurant, and periodically, “storms” will happen.

Rainforest Cafe

If you want to see animals, we’d recommend just heading into Animal Kingdom. When it comes to the food, it’s just okay. Nothing will blow your mind. For a better dining experience, you should check out Satu’li Canteen instead.

T-REX

We couldn’t mention Rainforest Cafe without talking about its dino-themed cousin, T-REX. This spot in Disney Springs is very similar to Rainforest Cafe, except with a prehistoric atmosphere instead.

T-REX

Maybe great for your dino-loving kids, but definitely not for foodies. It falls into the same menu traps as Rainforest Cafe. For a better dining experience, you should check out Polite Pig since you’re already at Disney Springs.

Be Our Guest Restaurant

Be Our Guest Restaurant is a beautiful environment to dine in, and will ultimately be a memorable dining experience. However, the food is a prix-fixe menu for both lunch and dinner making for a very pricey meal that frankly isn’t worth doing more than once.

Be Our Guest Ballroom Dining Room

Once you’ve tried this restaurant once, you can check out other spots like Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom for a more affordable meal.

Chef Mickey’s

Chef Mickey’s is a big restaurant in the Contemporary Hotel, and it gets quite loud here. The food isn’t anything really to write home about, but that’s to be expected since you’re really only there to see the characters (some feel it’s a rite of passage).

Chef Mickey’s

If the price is in your budget, then good on you, but if you’d like an experience that might be a better value, check out Topolino’s Terrace at Riviera Resort instead.

Cinderella’s Royal Table

There is no more iconic restaurant than Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom. It’s also a dining experience where you can meet your favorite princesses.

Cinderella’s Royal Table

Now, the price tag and overall quality of the food make Cinderella’s Royal Table a one-and-done spot. If you want to try something different on your Magic Kingdom day, we’d recommend some of the table service restaurants at monorail resorts like ‘Ohana at the Polynesian Village.

Oga’s Cantina

Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge has some pretty unreal theming and cocktails on the menu that belong in a galaxy far, far away.

Oga’s Cantina

But the majority of Oga’s is standing-room only, and since it’s heavily focused on alcoholic beverages, it’s not the most kid-friendly. For a much more relaxing experience, you’ll want to check out BaseLine Tap House, also in Hollywood Studios.

Stands that only sell fruits or chips

Now, around the parks, you’ll find stands that just sell chips and fruit. Please, oh, please, don’t waste your money here!

Liberty Square Market

You’ll be paying more for one orange than you would for an entire pack of cuties most of the time! Instead, we recommend using a delivery service to get groceries and snacks delivered to your hotel lobby. That way, you can save some money on all your favorite snacks, and have them in the hotel room to pack for a day in the parks or for a late-night snack!

  1. Have to disagree with Cinderellas castle. Don’t think it screams “first time at Disney” considering months wait for reservations and how it does take away a decent amount of park time. I do agree it is a one and done event and if u have been to Disney before then it is worth doing it once. ( we went when our daughter was 4 and still talk about it. Not just the meal but the views and literally u are inside the castle!
