6 Disney World Things We’re Ready To See Go EXTINCT

Have you ever noticed how much has been changing at Disney World?

Everywhere you look there seem to be construction projects in various stages of completion, which means we’re in the thick of seeing new attractions and experiences come and classic ones go. Speaking of which, if Disney ever wanted to know our opinion on which existing things should go, we’ve got a list ready and prepared to talk about. Let’s go!

Dinoland U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Dinoland U.S.A. in Animal Kingdom holds a special place in the hearts of many long-time Disney fans. But let’s face it, the whole area feels a bit stuck in the past. The cheesy theming and dated dinosaur figures are charming in a retro way, but they lack the immersive experience we expect from Disney today.

Thankfully, it appears that Disney has already heard us. If you didn’t know, plans are moving full steam ahead on converting this whole area into the “Tropical Americas.”

We still need to learn more concrete details, but we’re excited about the potential they have for this area.

“It’s Tough to be a Bug”

This 3D show in Animal Kingdom’s Tree of Life might have been groundbreaking back in its day, but compared to the immersive experiences Disney offers now, “It’s Tough to be a Bug!” feels a bit… well, buggy.

The 3D effects and gags are dated, and the overall experience feels a bit cramped and outdated. Thankfully, just like with Dinoland U.S.A., it looks like Disney’s already on it!

They are in the process of changing out this show for one based on Zootopia! At the moment, we’re still waiting for more details, but this should be a welcome revision.

Test Track SIMporium

We love riding Test Track at Epcot. It’s always a thrill, but the post-ride SIMporium is firmly stuck in the past. The low-resolution photo ops and outdated technology feel more 1990s than cutting-edge, which is why we have it on this list of things that need to go extinct.

But wouldn’t you know that Disney is already one step ahead of us?!

The entirety of Test Track is about to undergo a reimaging starting in June, and we couldn’t be more excited! Concrete details and timelines are a little scarce, but we’re pumped for what we have seen so far.

Tomorrowland Speedway

This opening-day attraction has guests taking a spin in a gas-powered race car as they make their way around Tomorrowland Speedway. While this ride has some nostalgia for some, we’re not alone in thinking that this attraction is seriously outdated, not to mention that these gas-powered vehicles are an assault on our senses.

With TRON Lightcycle / Run being right next door, I think it’s high time to convert these race cars to electric, and an overall facelift to the area wouldn’t hurt. That would make it seem much more cohesive with TRON and Space Mountain, and it would be a lot more fun zipping around the track.

Journey into Imagination…with Figment

In this ride featuring the purple dragon, Figment, you embark on a journey through the senses on a tour of the Imagination Institute. As fun as the ride is, it’s definitely in need of an update.

If they could update the science-y-ness of the ride to at least the 21st century, that would go a long way to increasing the overall enjoyment. And we know lots of ’80s and ’90s kids who would like to see Dreamfinder again!

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

Listen, we absolutely adore the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. It’s one of our favorite rides here at AllEars, and it’s a pretty popular ride if you’re looking to sit back and relax in Magic Kingdom.

But, there’s no denying that it could seriously use a facelift. In light of the push toward having more Disney IP in the parks, this would be the perfect opportunity to have a Meet the Robinsons overlay.

While the film wasn’t exactly a box office hit, in our opinion, it’s one of the most underrated Disney films and would 100% fit right into the area.

Those are just a couple of the things we would like to see go extinct at Disney World, and we’d love to hear more about it from you! In the meantime, we’ll be here to keep you updated on all the latest Disney World news, so stay tuned to AllEars!
