The One Reason You Probably Shouldn’t Rope Drop Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Things happen in Disney World that could up-end your plans on any particular day.

For example, weather is the biggest offender because those pop-up storms that happen in Florida, especially during the summer months, can be unpredictable. Then rides end up closing, and any plans you had for those rides just flies out the window. Sometimes rides are closed for other reasons, but it can be frustrating when multiple rides are closed as soon as you get to the park.​

Visitors who rope dropped Disney’s Animal Kingdom yesterday, May 29th, probably felt this when three of the park’s rides were closed when the park opened. Kali River Rapids, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and Na’vi River Journey were all closed for about an hour after Animal Kingdom opened. This also means that these rides were unavailable for Early Theme Park Entry, too.

So what can you do when this happens? Well, the only option is to ride other rides or, in the case of Animal Kingdom, take the opportunity to visit the many trails where you can get a first-hand personal look at some of the animals that call Animal Kingdom home.

However, Animal Kingdom opens earlier than the other parks, so it could just be best to skip rope drop and sleep in a bit and head to Animal Kingdom later.
