Your EPCOT Experience Will Completely Change in About Two Weeks

Are you ready for your EPCOT trip?

EPCOT

We’re so stoked for you! You’ve got so many things to look forward to like the rides, the festivals, and all the snacks and drinks from around the world! If you’re heading there starting in June, we’ve got to talk because EPCOT is going to look completely different! Let’s talk about it.

As we were saying, EPCOT has a lot that will change in the next two weeks, so let’s run down a list of the changes!

Before diving in, remember that The Flower & Garden Festival ends on May 27th. It used to run from early March all the way through July — but that is not the case this year!

Flower and Garden Festival

This means EPCOT won’t have a festival going on for over three months — until the Food & Wine Festival kicks off on August 29th. If you typically visit EPCOT to enjoy the festivals, keep in mind that between May 28th and August 29th, you won’t be able to do so since there won’t be a festival going on.

Now, let’s talk about the other changes coming to EPCOT!

DVC Lounge

First up, one of the Disney Vacation Club lounges in EPCOT is closing for some time.

DVC Member Lounge

The lounge located inside the second floor of the Imagination Pavilion will be closing for refurbishment from June 2nd to July 13th, 2024.

If you’re a Disney Vacation Club Member don’t worry that you won’t have a lounge accessible to you when you go to EPCOT. Disney will have a temporary lounge available in the meantime.

This temporary lounge will be located inside The Odyssey Pavilion, which is situated at the edge of the lagoon between World Showcase and World Discovery. It will remain in use until the Imagination Pavilion reopens on July 14th, 2024.

CommuniCore Hall and Plaza

Next up, CommuniCore Hall and Plaza are opening on June 10th! This means that as of June 10th, we can FINALLY visit a fully transformed EPCOT.

CommuniCore Hall will be the central hub for EPCOT’s festivals, featuring a demo kitchen, mixology bar, gallery, a new Mickey meet-and-greet location, and more! Hopefully festival favorites like classes and seminars will return as well!

Also, outdoors, CommuniCore Plaza will provide a flexible space for everything from large concerts to smaller performances.

New Mickey and Friends character meet-and-greet

There’s going to be a NEW Mickey Mouse character meet-and-greet location opening there soon! There will be a “beautiful mural of all things EPCOT past and present” with “a geometric exterior design inspired by Spaceship Earth, and the boss himself, Mickey Mouse, and his pals.”

Also, on our latest trip to EPCOT, we noticed a “Festival Favorites” sign over at CommuniCore Hall — which was the name of a food booth at previous festivals that served up, you guessed it, past festival favorite foods.

While Disney hasn’t made any official announcements quite yet, we’re hopeful this means we could see a year-round festival booth!

New Encanto Sing-Along

Next up, from June 10th to September 6th, a NEW summer sing-along will be coming to EPCOT’s CommuniCore Plaza stage. Here, you can enjoy a musical rendition of the story of Encanto with Mirabel and Bruno!

The show will be called “¡Celebración Encanto!” and will happen periodically throughout the day. Get ready to sing “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” this June!

Test Track

If you didn’t know, Test Track is about to undergo a complete reimagining. Disney Parks recently shared a glimpse of the reimagined Test Track on Facebook through concept art.

The art showcases a new awning, vibrant LED lights, and what appears to be the ride continuing to zip outside the building. Disney also confirmed that the current Test Track will close for refurbishment on June 17th!

Based on previous concept art, it looks like this new version will drive through some kind of forest, and the ride vehicles look to be referencing those seen in World of Motion when the ride opened back in 1982.

At the moment, we don’t know how long the ride will be closed, but if the concept art is any indication, it looks like we’re expecting a significant makeover that will last a few months at the least.
