Disney’s premier festival is going to be SIGNIFICANTLY shorter in 2024.

Since its debut in 1995, the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival has become one of Walt Disney World’s premier events, with its culinary booths and Eat to the Beat concert series drawing in scores of visitors each year, and continuously expanding in dates. Until this year that is.
Disney has officially announced the dates for the 2024 edition of Food & Wine, and we can’t help but notice the festival is starting much later than in recent years.

This year, the Food & Wine Festival will begin on August 29th and run until November 23rd. For perspective, the 2023 version ran from July 27th, 2023 through November 18th, 2023 and 2022’s from July 14th through November 19th. This significant cut is surprising to us, as we initially suspected Food & Wine might actually be longer this year.

Perhaps the later start is related to CommuniCore Hall, the new massive structure at the heart of EPCOT’s World Celebration. It’s scheduled to open on June 10th, and perhaps Disney wants to iron out any kinks in its operation before the festival begins, as the space will be used to add “exciting fresh elements to the festival” according to the company.

These shortened dates also return the fall festival to a length that we saw pre-2020, so Disney may just be working on bringing EPCOT back to its pre-pandemic days. We are surprised to see Disney leave a 2 to 3 month span of time with no festival since the ongoing Flower and Garden Festival runs until May 27th.

While the Food & Wine Festival might be shorter than usual this year, the event will feature all of the elements visitors have come to love about festival, including returning and new culinary delights, as well as merchandise.

It was so nice to visit without a festival 2 weeks ago.
Hard to believe Disney would do this without a proper lead time. My family booked our stay in mid to late August expecting to enjoy the Food & Wine Festival. Since everyone in the DVC knows that you need to book vacations as close to the 11 month mark as possible, how on earth could Disney do this without regard for the thousands of DVC August visitors like ourselves?
Disney continues to be brain-dead on this and so many recent changes.
