The BEST Time to Ride One of Disney World’s Most Popular Rides Isn’t When You Think…

It’s been pretty quiet in Disney World recently, at least after all the Spring Break crowds we’ve seen in previous weeks.

That means that wait times are down, but that doesn’t stop wait times for the most popular rides of staying up there at an hour or longer. Of course, you can always purchase Genie+ or the Individual Lightning Lane option for those rides, or you can use a different strategy to avoid the longer lines.​

If you’ve been to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you probably know that Flight of Passage often has super long lines, even when the parks aren’t that busy. Now, you can pay extra with the Individual Lightning Lane option to bypass those long standby lines, or you wait until around 5PM, when the wait time is at its lowest.

For example, the wait time for Flight of Passage for yesterday, April 10th, was just 20 minutes at 5PM and then skyrocketed back up to 40 minutes at 6PM, just before park close. Why? Well, it seems a lot of folks are either rope dropping Flight of Passage, or waiting until just before park close thinking that this strategy will get them a shorter line. But that may not be the case.

That 5PM time is the sweet spot BEFORE park close that seems to be when the ride is the shortest. So what you need to do, if you don’t want to pay extra for Flight of Passage, is keep a close eye on the ride’s wait times throughout the day with the My Disney Experience app. If you see that wait time drop below 30 minutes, that could be a sign to get in line for Flight of Passage ASAP.
