8 Etiquette Rules to Know Before Traveling to Disney World With a Large Group

Are you gearing up for your next trip to Disney World?

Cinderella Castle

There’s always a lot of work that goes into planning a trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth, especially if you’re heading there with a large group. To that end, we thought we’d go over a couple of rules you’ll need to keep in mind to make sure your trip has smooth sailing.

Ready for the trip to Disney World with your big group? Great! But before you go, we’d like to remind you that one of the best decisions you can make when traveling with a large group to Disney World is to use a travel agent! You know how awkward it can be to navigate everyone’s wants and needs in a large group — let alone navigate conflicts over the trip budget. Sometimes having a third party (your travel agent) to handle everyone’s requests and advise you on the best hotels, best restaurants and best itineraries is the way to go! We recommend our friends at Mouse Fan Travel if you need someone!

Now on to those etiquette rules you’re going to need on your trip!

Communicate Beforehand

Start your journey off on the right foot by having a group discussion about expectations, budget, and must-do rides. This preemptive communication can help avoid last-minute disagreements and wasted time.

TRON Lightcycle / Run

Before you hit the road, gather your gang for a good ol’ chat session. Talk about what’s on everyone’s Disney “bucket list” whether it’s hitting up Space Mountain or catching the fireworks show.

Oh, and don’t forget the budget talk! That can save you from those awkward “oops, I didn’t know we were splurging on Dole Whips” moments later on.

Plan Ahead for Meals

When it comes to meals, do yourselves a favor and plan ahead. Scope out those dining spots in advance and lock in those reservations using My Disney Experience.

Full spread

Also, if you’re rolling deep with a big group, be ready to be a bit flexible with your seating arrangements. Sometimes, it’s all about embracing the “divide and conquer” strategy.

And remember that Mobile Order is going to be your best friend for grabbing grub on the go!

Be Flexible

There’s one thing that’s absolutely essential for surviving the parks with a big group: FLEXIBILITY.

Large groups have a tendency to move at their own pace, and that pace might be a bit slower than you’re used to. So, factor in some extra time for those inevitable bathroom breaks, wrangling everyone together, and navigating through the crowds.

Split Up Strategically

Here’s the deal: Not everyone’s gonna be down for the same rides or shows, and that’s totally cool! So, be prepared to split up into smaller groups to tackle different attractions.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Maybe some of you are thrill-seekers itching to hit up Big Thunder Mountain, while others are all about that Dumbo the Flying Elephant life, and there’s no shame in that!

Make sure to set up some designated meetup spots and times to regroup for meals or those character photo ops, etc. Trust me, a little strategic splitting up can maximize your Disney fun without anyone feeling left out.

Mind Your Volume

Let’s talk about keeping the volume in check. Disney World is awesome, and it’s hard not to get caught up in all that excitement, but we’ve got to be mindful of our noise levels, especially in those indoor attractions and shows.

Nobody wants to miss out because of a rowdy group, right? So, let’s dial down the chatter a bit and keep things positive and inclusive for everyone around us.

Respect Personal Space

Now, I know Disney World can get pretty crowded, and it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, but we’ve got to be mindful of our surroundings and give each other some breathing room.

Crowd

Nobody likes getting jostled or bumped in line, am I right? So, let’s keep our group in check and be respectful of other guests’ personal bubbles. Trust me, a little awareness goes a long way in ensuring everyone has a great time at the parks.

Be Patient with Cast Members

Last, but not least, we’ve got to show some love to the unsung heroes of Disney World – the Cast Members! These folks work tirelessly to make sure our Disney trips are magical.

So, let’s make their day a little brighter by showing some patience, kindness, and respect. Whether they’re helping us navigate through the crowds or dealing with unforeseen hiccups, let’s give them big smiles and a heartfelt thank you.

  1. Folks in large groups should also leave room for others in walkways, passages, etc. I’ve seen groups walking 6 abreast down a walkway practically bowling over mother’s with strollers simply because they had no common courtesy for others.
