Why Genie+ Is a STRUGGLE This Week in Disney World

We’re in the middle of Spring Break season, and that means that Disney World is CROWDED.

Disney World crowds

We’ve seen heavy crowds in the parks and plenty of long lines for rides and attractions. If you’re hoping to skip some of those wait times, you might want to consider purchasing Genie+. However, you’ll have to shell out some big bucks this time of year!

On the morning of Wednesday, March 13th, we checked out Genie+ prices in the My Disney Experience app, and they were predictably high! Magic Kingdom sits at $35 per person, with EPCOT at $28, Hollywood Studios at $32, and Animal Kingdom at $25.

Also, by 9:15AM, the Multi-Park Genie+ option was already sold out for the day. Genie+ goes on sale at midnight each day, so you’ll want to snag that early if you’re planning on using it.

Lightning Lane

Right after 9AM, we noticed that Individual Lightning Lanes for TRON Lightcycle / Run, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Rise of the Resistance, and Flight of Passage were already sold out for the day. Disney hotel guests can purchase these at 7AM, while those staying off-site have to wait until the park opens. By 11AM, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was also sold out.

TRON Lightcycle / Run

So if you’re visiting Disney World soon, you’ll want to be prepared for the digital race! Here’s what you need to know:

  • At midnight — you can purchase Genie+ for yourself and everyone in your group through the My Disney Experience app
  • At 7AM — anyone staying at a Disney World Resort can purchase Individual Lightning Lanes for the five rides where those apply
  • At 7AM — all visitors with Genie+ can make their first Lightning Lane selection of the day
  • At 7AM — all visitors with park admission (and Park Pass Reservations, where applicable) can join the virtual queues for either TRON Lightcycle / Run or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
  • At park opening — those not staying at a Disney World Resort can purchase Individual Lightning Lanes for whichever of the five rides are still available
