Did you know about Disney World’s RARE hotel parade?

Disney’s Mardi Gras celebration has officially kicked off in Disney World, and with that  comes new treats and several announcements about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. But there’s another Mardi Gras celebration that happens each year that a lot of folks walk right on past.

Mardi Gras is a joyous celebration in New Orleans marking the close of the Pre-Lenten season. And the party has become so big that it has spilled over into Disney World’s hotels!

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter

It’s become a tradition in recent years for Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter to host a parade and party for Mardi Gras on Fat Tuesday. This year the celebration kicked off with Cast Members who helped move the parade forward with banners…

… a live band…

… a royal guest of honor with Princess Tiana in a horse-drawn carriage…

 

… and golf carts dressed up in Mardi Gras themes!

There were also parades of old like SpectroMagic, Move It Shake It Celebrate It, and Boo To You!

 

 

And the best part is that ANYONE can vote for their favorite parade floats each year by using the scannable QR code!

In the end, there’s even a party to hang around the hotel and continue the celebration after the parade has finished!

  1. We just so happened to join in the fun today! We took a boat from Saratoga Springs right to the French Quarter. There was a terrific parade showcasing cast members many creative talents. Some floats had music and movement. Super friendly cast members handed out beads of purple green and gold. Candy and little yellow ducks were tossed around. Not sure what the ducks symbolized. Live music and decorations made me feel like I was in New Orleans. However, I was someplace even better! Thanks French Quarter at Disney World! We had a blast
