NEW Characters and Menu Items Are Coming to Disney’s 1900 Park Fare Restaurant

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is about to get a little BETTER! How is that possible, you may ask? Wait until you see what Disney just announced!

One popular dining option has been missing from the Grand Floridian Resort for a while. The restaurant has been closed since 2020 — talk about a long break! But now, Disney has announced that the restaurant will REOPEN later this year, and we have a ton of updates to share ahead of its return.

Stay calm — it’s happening! 1900 Park Fare is reopening at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort on April 10th, 2024. The restaurant will be a blend of old and new details, including a newly refurbished dining room “and other special touches” that Disney hasn’t revealed quite yet.

Dining reservations will open for 1900 Park Fare on March 5th, so make sure to set your alarms! But before the big day, let’s see what Disney has planned for this restaurant.

First, we have to talk about the CHARACTERS — this was one of Disney’s hottest character dining meals back in the day. In the past, you could meet characters like Alice in Wonderland, The Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, and the Step Sisters.

When this spot reopens, you can dine with characters like Aladdin (in his Prince Ali look), Cinderella, Mirabel, and Tiana (in her NEW outfit for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure). Together, this fun cast of characters will celebrate the power of a wish.

Of course, we also have to talk about the FOOD (duh!). Disney shared that this restaurant will reopen with buffet service for breakfast and dinner (just like in the past). We don’t have many menu updates yet, but Disney confirmed that the strawberry soup will return.  (If you’re unfamiliar, picture a sweet, chilled smoothie-like soup with blended strawberries — it’s delicious!)

Look out for “new menu offerings dreamed up by our talented chefs to pay tribute to some of the characters and stories you’ll encounter throughout the restaurant.”

OK, now that we’ve covered the basics, we can get into all the fun little details! First, true 1900 Park Fare fans may recognize the name “Big Bertha.” It’s an antique organ that’s been around since 1988. You’ll find her in the main dining room — she makes an excellent centerpiece. 

Additionally, make sure to take in all the fun Grand Floridian-esque details around the restaurant, like this new mural Disney just shared!

In another dining room, check out the sweet carousel drawings inspired by Disney movies like The Little Mermaid and Alice in Wonderland. Disney also teased more hidden carousel details coming soon!

In the main dining room, Disney promises to debut twelve NEW portraits created exclusively for the restaurant. We don’t know exactly which characters will be featured, but we do have a hint! Disney explained that each portrait will feature a different character “as they hope, dream and wish upon a star (or even a magic lamp or a wishing well).”
