Disney is turning up the heat on streaming services yet again.

A new sports streaming concept is on the way from ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery, and while we only have a few details so far, we’re pretty excited about the prospect of being able to watch all of our favorite games in one place. But, that begs the question: How much will the new service cost?
This new streaming concept remains unnamed for now, but it promises to be a stand-alone service that acts as a bundle for ESPN+, Hulu, and Max subscribers. ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery have joined together to make this new service a reality.

Not only that, but ESPN is also looking for partners in the NFL, NBA, and NHL — meaning we could see those games on this app as well.

It sounds pretty idyllic, which probably means it’s going to be expensive, right? Well, we don’t really know quite yet. The New York Times expects it to “cost more than the $15 or so a month that most streaming companies charge, and less than the $100 or so it costs each month to subscribe to a pay television package.”
It was also confirmed that ads will be shown on the new service.

As far as when this will be rolling out, Disney hasn’t shared any specifics. We could see a chief executive officer named in the next few weeks, and the service should be available in fall 2024 via a new app.
In total, 14 channels have been bundled for the service: ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPNews, Fox, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, Big Ten Network, TNT, TBS, truTV, and ESPN+.

It will work kind of like a cable-streaming hybrid. You can subscribe and watch on multiple devices, but instead of a menu of shows to watch you’ll see channels that you’re able to watch live a la the good ole cable days.
Because of this, subscribers will also be able to watch non-sports-related shows televised on these channels like The Simpsons and The Bachelor.

So, ESPN+ won’t go away altogether or be replaced by this service, it will just be incorporated into the new app.
