Not only is it the company’s Q1 earnings call, which is where we’ll get to hear a lot about how the company has been performing recently, but also about some new projects they have in progress. Before the earnings call was released, however, Bob Iger went on CNBC to chat about some upcoming Disney ideas, and it turns out, gamers have a LOT to look forward to!

During his chat with CNBC, Disney CEO Bob Iger mentioned that Disney is partnering up with Epic Games, the company that created the popular game Fortnite, to bring tons of new games and entertainment featuring characters from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar, and more!

So why games? Bob Iger mentioned that the decision to focus on games comes because “when you look at where Gen Alpha, Gen Z, and even millennials are spending their time, gaming is important.” Especially when it comes to staying relevant in today’s society.

Iger also said, “Our new relationship with Epic Games will create a universe that integrates Disney’s storytelling into the Fortnite game.” Players will be able to shop, watch, and play in the new universe.

Right now, we don’t have a timeline for when to expect these games, other than Iger’s words of, “Maybe a couple years timeline for the gaming platform.” That’s a long time to wait, yes, but there are lots of exciting things for us to look forward to in the meantime.
