The company is having its Q1 2024 earnings call and we’re getting a ton of big announcements about new movies, new programs coming to Disney+, and more. Well, we’ve got some big news Percy Jackson fans have been waiting for: season 2 of the series is a go!

Yes, Disney recently confirmed that its Percy Jackson series, which is based on the Percy Jackson novel series by Rick Riordan, will be getting a second season. The second season will follow events from The Sea of Monsters, the second story in the book series.

This doesn’t come as a big surprise as almost everyone involved with the series was confident a second season would happen. The show’s first episode was one of the top five most-watched season premieres for any show on Disney+ and Hulu in 2023.

The series follows a young boy, Percy Jackson, who learns that he is a demi-god, and the son of a Greek god. Oh yes, by the way, the Greek gods and goddesses are real. The show’s first season followed Percy as he went on a mission to retrieve Zeus’ missing lightning bolt.

Season 2 will be a little brutal for Walker Scobell, who plays Percy in the series. The actor commented about the time he might have to spend in the water in the second season when talking about his underwater scenes in season 1. He said, “Those were really fun, but I’m a little bit nervous for next season because — since I have to keep my eyes open [while filming underwater], on the second day, my eyes really started burning — I’ll probably have to do a week of that.”
