At Disney World, things are constantly changing.

There is an almost constant buzzing of construction projects, new items, new foods, and new attractions in the works. Speaking of rides, there’s been in change in Disney’s rules when it comes to what you can and cannot have with you on a ride that some Disney fans aren’t too keen on, but for a large majority, the change is a welcome one!
Recently, Disney has been cracking down on taking phones and cameras on rides. We’ve seen that you are not allowed to have your phone out on Space Mountain.

This has been a controversial decision, as many Disney guests wanted the freedom to film their experience on the rides, and we could imagine the ban coming to many of the other rides as well.

So imagine our surprise when we took to Instagram to ask just how controversial these decisions have been, only to find that 80% of the Disney fans who voted are actually all for the changes!

Maybe this is just one of those scenarios where the idea is liked overall, but there are a couple of specific instances that Disney fans do not approve of.

Thank Goodness! It’s rude & distracting esp on a dark ride & people are taking flash pictures. You & I both spent a ton on money to be there be in the moment & enjoy it
I agree. As someone who has worked at a theme park (not Disney) lost phones were the worst part of my day. People don’t seem to understand that if you lose your phone on a ride, it’s not just a ‘give me a few moments to walk down and grab it’ situation. It’s a ‘you have to wait until the park closes and we shut down the ride before we can even consider getting your phone’ and that is a best-case scenario. In some situations, we would have to close the ride down in the middle of the day to fetch whatever was dropped because it dropped and landed in a way that would cause a hazard to the ride or riders, or worse some entitled guest would think that they should be able to get their item now and not have to wait despite our warnings. Next thing we know a guest snuck into an area of the ride they really shouldn’t be and got hurt. (our coasters were outside and people would climb fences to get to the area where their item fell, not realizing how close to the ground the coaster ran and get hit by the coaster while it was running. More than a few people ended up in the hospital doing that). So do me and all theme park employees a favor, keep anything not attached to you secured in a bag or in a zippered pocket and if something does fall understand you won’t get it back until late that night, or the next day.
Consider that filming and posting the ride video might be a violation of Disney’s IP. Most stage shows and movies do not allow these videos.
