January 9th was finally the BIG DAY we’ve been waiting for at Disney World — the park pass reservation system is gone and park hopping is back!

In 2023, Disney announced big changes were coming to Walt Disney World at the beginning of 2024. We finally got to experience those changes firsthand. We especially took advantage of one of the new changes — unrestricted park hopping!

January 9th saw the dismantling of the park pass reservation system for date-based tickets at Disney World, the return of the Disney Dining Plan, and, of course, the change to Disney World park hopping rules.

During most of the COVID-19 pandemic until this point, park hopping has been limited to being available at a 2PM start time. Now, that restriction was lifted! If you have a ticket with the park hopper or park hopper plus option, you can start park hopping any time of the day.

Since we could park hop as early as park opening, we had to park hop as early as park opening. We did a speed run to find out just how fast we could park hop all four parks on the first day back to all-day park hopping.

We started our morning in Animal Kingdom!

Animal Kingdom first

Then we headed as fast as we could to Hollywood Studios.

Getting to EPCOT was our next and third stop!

Third stop

And finally, we had to make the OG Disney World park, Magic Kingdom, our final stop to conquer all four parks.

Final stop!!!

We made it to all the parks before 10AM with a final time of 1 hour and 3 minutes! Our prize? Lots of snacks with our new dining plan!

We made it to all four parks!!

While completing this challenge, we learned some useful new information about Disney transportation. The Disney buses will now start running park-to-park every day at 10AM! And remember, the Skyliner and monorail are also available to get you between the parks. We were able to make it as quickly as we did because we opted to drive, so that’s always an option as well.

We’re so glad that park hopping has returned to normal in addition to the other changes Disney World made! The resort is always updating, evolving, and keeping us on our toes so be sure to follow us here at AllEars for all the latest out of Disney World!
