We’re SHOCKED by the New Year’s Eve CROWDS in Disney World

Who’s heading to Disney World to ring in the new year?!

Here comes 2024!

We’re in the parks today to check out all the celebrations for the end of 2023, and we’re bringing you along with us! We already watched the iconic New Year’s Eve fireworks last night (Disney World shows them on the 30th and the 31st!), but now we’re showing you what the crowds look like in the parks on New Year’s Eve.

We first headed to Magic Kingdom around 9 AM. We parked at the Transportation and Ticket Center to hop on the Monorail. We were shocked at the crowds here! Not because there were tons of people — quite the opposite — there was almost no one there!

Magic Kingdom Monorail

We walked right onto the monorail to head to the park. This will probably be our shortest wait of the day!

Where are all the people?

As we got to the park, we found a few more people, but it was still quieter than we might have expected.

Close to noon, Main Street, U.S.A. was looking a little busier!

There are a few more people!

People began lining the streets as they waited for the ‘Once Upon a Christmastime’ parade to come by.

Still not as busy as we would have expected!

As we worked our way closer to Cinderella Castle, though, it was even busier as everyone waited for the parade to start! The area by the castle is a very popular spot for people to congregate on New Year’s Eve so they can get prime fireworks views.

We found the crowds!

Shortly after the parade, the wait times for the big rides in Magic Kingdom were doing their thing and being long! Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain, and Jingle Cruise were all OVER 60 minutes.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train were both over 100 minutes! And, of course, one ride had to be temporarily down. Pirates of the Caribbean drew the short straw and had been down for over an hour with no estimated opening time.

The pictures from this morning may not look like it has been super busy, but these wait times are telling us just where everybody is. But since the first parade ended, things have just gotten busier!

Line for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad after the noon parade!

Lines have gotten very long. Check out this wait for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train!

That’s a lot of people

The central hub near Cinderella Castle this afternoon has gotten significantly more crowded, which we expected.

Wow!!

And if we take a peak at the Haunted Mansion line, we’ll see there’s nothing short about it.

This is the line for Haunted Mansion!

Tomorrowland isn’t doing much better. There are LOTS of people over there, too. It seems nowhere is safe from the crowds in Magic Kingdom today!

Let’s take a break at Magic Kingdom and go check out what’s happening in EPCOT! This afternoon, the wait times in EPCOT were pretty similar to Magic Kingdom — several over 100 minutes and nearing 200 minutes.

But don’t worry — you can still get on Gran Fiesta Tour, Journey into Imagination with Figment, and Living with the Land in under 30 minutes!! ?

When we stepped inside The Land, however, it was packed!

That is SO many people

Upstairs, downstairs, and Soarin’ all had tons of people.

If you’re looking for somethings to eat today, it might be worth trying at odd times instead of typical meal times. Good luck out there. That’s all the crowd info for now in Disney World on New Year’s Eve! We’ll keep you updated and in the loop with more news from this big holiday.
