Have You Ever Noticed a FOUL Smell in EPCOT? You’re Not Alone!

We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again.

Disney World is magical — until it’s not. Today, we’re here to chat about not-so-magical SMELLS. Yes, we always talk about the rides and areas of Disney World that smell SO GOOD that we wish we could bottle them up and take them home with us. However, why is NOBODY talking about the horrible smells that linger in the parks?

If you’ve ever noticed a rotten egg/sulfurous smell that lingers in certain areas of Disney World, you’re totally not alone. One place we smell this an awful lot, though, is EPCOT.

Spaceship Earth

Yep, we notice it EVERY TIME we pass by certain areas. One of those areas is over beside Club Cool. Like… hello? It smells worse than Beverly tastes.

We also smell this smell occasionally throughout World Showcase, but mostly to the left of the Germany Pavilion. (This keeps getting more and more specific, but we visit EPCOT so often that we just know when to brace ourselves.)

We also occasionally get a whiff of rotten eggs over by the Imagination Pavilion, but we haven’t noticed that it’s especially strong here. We have no idea what this smell really is, but many folks believe it could be sulfur from fireworks.

  1. For years there was the odor of raw sewage when you entered Creations/Mouse Gear via the door closest to the now gone Fountain of Nations. The aroma permeated that entire corner of the store.
