OK, everyone. What you’re about to read is basically a digital time capsule of Disney World history. We’re sharing the Disney World ride wait times from December 16th, 2023. Why does this matter? In about one year, things could TOTALLY change.
Disney previously announced that its NEW Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride will open sometime in 2024. We’re still waiting for an opening date, but with all the recent construction updates, the new ride is really coming along! When the new ride opens, it’s going to be a BIG deal. Let’s talk about why.
Back in the day, Splash Mountain used to be a super popular attraction. In fact, it used to reach some seriously high wait times — especially in the summer! Once the ride closed, Magic Kingdom guests were left with one less ride to experience in the park.
Now, fast-forward to 2023. Disney debuted a NEW coaster called TRON Lightcycle / Run, which operates with a Lightning Lane/Virtual queue. As a result, we can’t see the wait times, but the ride seems to be pretty popular, and the Virtual Queue fills up pretty quickly each day. Could Tiana’s Bayou Adventure open with a Virtual Queue system? The ride certainly has the space for a traditional standby line, thanks to the old Splash Mountain footprint!
Of course, we’ll have to wait and see. But in the meantime, we can look at the current PRE-Tiana’s Bayou Adventure wait times to see how they will compare when guests have something NEW to explore! Now, let’s check out those December 16th wait times!

New rides opening with a virtual queue or “boarding groups” like Disney likes to call them has become the norm since Rise of the Resistance, so I have no doubt that a virtual queue is coming to Tiana’s when it opens. The bigger question is if Tron keeps its virtual queue status when Tiana opens. I don’t think it does because is seems like each park only has one virtual queue ride going at once at any given time.
