Some of the most iconic films of our age are the Star Wars movies.

In the past few years, we’ve sadly lost several actors from the original films. And today, we have to report the loss of another important contributor to the Star Wars franchise and Lucasfilm as a whole.
Marc Thorpe, the visual effects artist who worked on various Star Wars and Indiana Jones films and created the Robot Wars concept in the early 1990s, passed away on November 24th, Deadline reports. Thorpe was 77 years old and died due to complications from his Parkinson’s diagnosis.

Thorpe began working for George Lucas in 1979 and did visual effects for films like Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi, Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom, and others from those franchises. Other film credits include Dragonslayer, Poltergeist, Howard the Duck, and The Hunt for Red October.

We express our sincere condolences to Marc Thorpe’s family and his many fans.
