NEW LOOK Behind the Construction Walls in EPCOT

We’re getting close to a VERY exciting day in Disney World!

EPCOT

The long-awaited EPCOT transformation is nearly complete, with plans to reopen the last section of the park in December 2023. This area has been covered up by construction walls for years now, and we can’t wait to walk through the middle of the park again. If you’re as eager to see it as we are, we’ve got a sneak peek to share with you!

Twitter/X user @bioreconstruct often shares aerial photos of theme park construction, and recently posted a picture of some work in World Celebration at EPCOT. Check out the new park logo that’s being added in the middle of the construction zone!

The area of EPCOT that’s currently blocked off by construction walls will contain several different elements. Nearest to World Showcase, you’ll find CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza.

CommuniCore Hall is an indoor space with areas for character meet and greets, festival booths, and demonstration stations (like for the food demonstrations that they had at EPCOT festivals pre-pandemic). The massive building will be a great multipurpose space for the park.

Next door at CommuniCore Plaza, you’ll find an outdoor area that will be a great festival hub. There will be an outdoor stage with room for visitors to watch musical acts and other performers.

Closer to Spaceship Earth, World Celebration will have some stunning gardens for visitors to explore, along with an iconic new statue of Walt Disney.

This area is supposed to be even nicer at night — with special lighting effects and the return of the light-up sidewalks that we previously loved in EPCOT. This sounds like a great place to watch the Spaceship Earth light shows in the evening.

We can’t wait to see what EPCOT looks like when the construction is complete, and we’ll share all the updates with you until then!
