If you love staying at the Disney hotels so much that you’re constantly wishing you could move in permanently, we’re right there with ya.
That’s why we’re so intrigued by the Storyliving by Disney communities that are currently in the works. In 2022, Disney announced plans for “vibrant new neighborhoods that are infused with our special brand of magic.” Storyliving by Disney will bring the magic and intricate design of the Disney films and parks to HOMES that people like you and me can buy! (Well, maybe not me, because #budget, but you get the gist.) The first ever Storyliving by Disney community is called Cotino, and is located in Rancho Mirage, California. Let’s check it out!
Disney shared the very first designs for the homes in the Cotino Community, and said that the design of the homes and community itself was inspired by everything Walt and Lillian Disney loved most about the Coachella Valley — “the stunning landscape, rich history, friendly community and energizing spirit.”
The first homes will be built by the award-wining Shea Homes builders, and each home will feature “spacious kitchens with walk-in pantries to large dining rooms perfect for family gatherings, the homes in Cotino community will offer future residents the flexibility to choose an option that works best for them. Open floorplans seamlessly connect indoor space to outdoor courtyards, wrap-around patios and covered terraces designed to truly immerse residents in the beauty of the region.”
Each home in the community will fall within the four categories: Cotino Coachella Collection, Cotino Agrarian Collection, Cotino Oasis Collection, and Cotino Aspiron Collection. Each design will feature nods to the mid-century modern architectural style as well as the things held near and dear to those in the Coachella Valley.
What’s even better is that Disney also announced the voluntary Artisan Club, the community center for those living in Cotino. At Artisan Club, you’ll be able to have access to the restaurant, pool, pickleball and tennis courts, and waterfront bar and activity area.
