It’s no secret that Disney World is always pushing the boundaries of what’s possible when it comes to its theme parks.

We’ve seen everything from a flying Spider-Man robot to a ride that emulates what it’s like to ride a TRON lightcycle to audio-animatronics that always seem to blow our minds. That’s why we’re not entirely surprised that a ride in Disney World just won a major award.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind isn’t just an attraction that stars Marvel’s outcast Guardians of the Galaxy crew; it also uses groundbreaking ride vehicles and technology. Disney refers to it as a “storytelling coaster” because riders face the story inside the ride in vehicles that spin from left to right.

Disney just announced that the ride will be given the Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement — Attraction in 2024 by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA). The Thea Awards are a BIG deal and very prestigious because they honor “exceptional achievements in the themed entertainment industry.” A Thea Award is considered a HUGE honor in the theme park industry.

Barbara Bouza, president of Walt Disney Imagineering, said, “On behalf of all Imagineers, I would like to thank TEA for this tremendous recognition of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and for continuing to drive the themed entertainment industry forward. As our Imagineering teams push the boundaries of creative storytelling in innovative and exciting ways, it’s always the highest honor for our work to be recognized by friends and colleagues from around the world.”

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind offered a bunch of firsts for Disney. It’s the first reverse launch Disney coaster, plus it’s the first to use Disney’s Omnicoaster ride system that allows ride vehicles to make controlled rotations.

Jeff Vahle, president of Disney World, said, “Congratulations to Walt Disney Imagineering on this well-deserved recognition. A highlight of our EPCOT transformation, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind combines the Disney hallmark of great storytelling with a ride experience that literally has guests coming back for more.”

Everyone WILLForget This Hack for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT
Have you been on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind? What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
I am not lying when I tell you that first time we rode it was via Virtual Queue, and were literally walking down the hallway exiting the ride and booking an ILL to get right back on it, and changing all of our park reservations to Epcot to do the same thing every day. Rode it 6 times in 3 days. Cannot say enough good things about it – obsessed is an understatement!
