Pin trading is a fun pastime many Disney fans enjoy in the parks.

Many guests will bring their Disney collection with them to the parks to stop by Cast Members with lanyards or boards to trade with them to get a variety of pins. And, of course, many pin traders will trade with each other while visiting their favorite Disney park. But now, some rules have changed in Disneyland regarding this fan-favorite activity.
On their website, Disneyland has added a few new guidelines for the etiquette of pin trading while in the parks. These new rules were just recently added to enhance guest experiences (pin traders and others). The biggest new addition to the guidelines is that park benches are no longer allowed to be used to display pins.

On the website, Disney stated, “Benches or any other structures for the display of pins will not be permitted. Benches are for seating purposes only.” Instead, they would ask that you make your way over to Westward Ho Trading Company from the park open to 3PM to do any trading for trading outside of the use of a lanyard. A Cast Member or sign will point you to the exact location for trading operations.

Another addition to the pin trading etiquette guidelines is the use of only one trading bag 14″L x 12″ W x 6″ H (36cm x 31cm x 16cm) or smaller. They will also not permit decorations such as lights, signage, or displays.

When asked about the updates by Scott Gustin, Disney responded by stating, “We regularly evaluate and adjust our policies and operations. Pin Trading is a fun, magical activity for our guests and these updated guidelines will create a designated location near Westward Ho Trading Company in Disneyland Park during specific times, which will enhance the overall guest experience at Disneyland Resort.”

The other relevant addition is that they ask pin traders to stay with their items the entire time they are displayed or trading. Disney is hoping to continue providing a run guest experience for everyone who comes to the happy place. So remember to check for updates before you begin your trading endeavors!
