The Embarrassing Mistake That TOO MANY People Make in Disney World

We go to Disney World every day of the year.

So we understand that there’s a lot to know. A Disney vacation is far from an actual vacation. You have to know transportation schedules, reservation systems, where the nearest bathroom is, and how on Earth you can skip that three-hour wait for Flight of Passage. There’s a lot. So it’s perfectly normal for people for people to make mistakes, especially on their first-ever trip there. But there’s one mistake that can be a bit embarrassing that we notice nearly every day, and we want to help you avoid it if we can.

The mistake we’re talking about is in the realm of Disney transportation. Disney offers three primary modes of transportation around the parks; the Skyliner, buses, and the monorail. The monorail is where we’re going with this.

Disney World monorail

The monorail in Disney World was Walt’s great idea of an electric transportation option in the sky and we are very fond of it. You can hop on this above-ground subway and head to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT, two of the most popular parks in Disney.

Magic Kingdom Monorail

But here’s what a lot of folks get mixed up– the monorail does NOT take you between Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. The two parks are not connected in any way unless you stop at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) first.

See, the Magic Kingdom monorail can take you from the park to the TTC (and the Magic Kingdom resorts depending on which train you board). Then, you can jump off that monorail and board the EPCOT one. Don’t make the mistake of missing your stop at the TTC and ending up right back at Magic Kingdom (we see this all the time).

EPCOT Monorail

If you’re trying to get to Magic Kingdom from EPCOT, just do it all in reverse; EPCOT to TTC to Magic Kingdom. Another way to get to the TTC from Magic Kingdom is by ferryboat which can be a fun alternative especially if you’re not in a hurry or there’s a very long monorail line.

The ferryboat can be a leisurely way to get to Magic Kingdom!

So when it comes time to find your way around the Disney World monorail know they’re not nearly as confusing as the New York City subway system, but there is a bit of navigating you need to know (perhaps Disney should add maps in them like a subway).

There are a lot of ways to get around Disney and once you’ve got them all figured out, getting around is a breeze.
