Disney just loves making general announcements and sweeping statements that it knows will likely cause chaos among fans.

We’ve seen it time and time again, and you’d think Disney would have learned not to get our hopes up by now. But now, why would they do that? Instead, they recently revealed a ton of new “plans” for Disney World — and the announcements are making fans seriously mad.
DinoLand, U.S.A. Retheme
Disney announced at Destination D23 that DinoLand, U.S.A. would be going away and would be replaced by a new land. Bruce Vaughn, Chief Creative Officer at Walt Disney Imagineering, joined Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, to announce that this new land would be themed to the Tropical Americas.

This area — the northern part of South America and Central America — is one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. But, folks don’t seem to think this area fits into the overall theme of Animal Kingdom. When you really look at it, though, there are already Africa, Asia, and other themed sections of this park (both fictional and nonfictional) so another region like this could easily fit.

What’s more, though, is what Disney plans to put in this potential Tropical Americas land — Encanto and Indiana Jones theming.

If you’re not familiar with Encanto, it’s set in Colombia, which is located in the northwestern part of South America… or possibly even… The Tropical Americas?
Indiana Jones could also be coming to Animal Kingdom, especially because Dinosaur, the existing ride in DinoLand, is based on the same ride vehicles and track system as the Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland.

And, while these may sound like welcome additions to some, others aren’t too happy about the purposely rundown, roadside, Dinosaur carnival going away forever. DinoLand represents the Animal Kingdom of the past, and its kitschy, cheesy theming isn’t something fans are ready to say goodbye to yet.

“It’s Tough To Be a Bug” Replacement
First of all, how dare you? Yes, Disney, we’re talking to you. Sure, “It’s Tough To Be a Bug” may be children’s first foray into the horror genre, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t love torturing our adult friends by making them experience it.

Disney announced that a Zootopia show would be coming to Animal Kingdom, and more specifically — the Tree of Life. In true Disney fashion, the announcement wasn’t any more specific than that, but it seems like this show could replace ITTBAB inside the Tree of Life Theatre.

We’re not sure when this change will be taking place or when we might hear more details about the switch.

Test Track Retheme
Test Track in EPCOT will be reimagined. Disney mentioned the company’s longstanding relationship with Chevrolet and followed with an announcement of a planned reimagining for this EPCOT icon. And, while Test Track opened in EPCOT way back in 1999, and its last upgrade was in 2012, some fans feel as though there’s another EPCOT icon that deserves a little love first.

In fact, Disney even announced that Spaceship Earth would be undergoing refurbishment a few years ago, and then we learned that it was postponed indefinitely — likely due to the pandemic. But, now that Disney World has resumed most of its normal operations, the Spaceship Earth refurbishment is still left in the dust.

Disney has announced that Test Track will close on June 17th for these unidentified changes. But, a video Disney released on Tiktok shared that Disney Imagineers are moving back in time to take inspiration from the original World of Motion ride (what Test Track started as).
We also got a glimpse at some concept art, It looks like this new version will drive through a forest of sorts. The ride vehicles also look as if they’re going to be similar to those seen in World of Motion when the ride opened in 1982.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for more details about this ride reimagination, so stay tuned for updates.

Country Bear Jamboree Retheme
At Destination D23 in September 2022, Disney announced that Country Bear Jamboree would be getting a refresh! The iconic Frontierland attraction that features animatronic bears is open NOW with some new songs, new character looks, and more.

Disney shared that The Country Bears learned some new songs and performed a COMPLETELY new act. The new show takes inspiration from classic Nashville variety shows, and Disney even involved Nashville musicians to make the new arrangements for the songs.

But, not everyone is excited about these upcoming changes. One AE reader said that Country Bear Jamboree was, “…from another time …. it was …. Disney …. now it will be just any other theme park in the world.”
The Crowds Were NOT What We Expected on Country Bear Jamboree’s Opening Day in Disney World
We received similar replies on our Facebook page — fans aren’t happy about this classic Disney World attraction being updated (even if it probably needs it)! Nostalgia can be a heck of a drug, and we understand why some people might not want these changes to actually happen.

We’ll be keeping up with any potential updates about all these announcements and more, so make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for the latest news.
