We all have parts of Disney that we just can’t forget about, no matter how many miles away we are from the parks.

Maybe it’s that you notice Disney merchandise anywhere you go, or you look for your own version of “hidden Mickeys” outside of the theme parks. We also know that smells can be very distinguishable and take you right back to a memory — here are 6 smells that Disney World fans will immediately recognize!
Pirates of the Caribbean
This ride as a whole is very memorable for many Disney fans, but two smells in particular stand out. The first one is what most people think of as soon as they hear this ride’s name — the WATER!

Seriously, we all want a candle in this smell (hello, Disney, million-dollar idea here!), but we also can’t forget about the smell of the fire.

You know the scene we’re talking about if you’ve ridden the ride — everything is literally on fire, and it smells very different from the water. Not in a bad way, but it is almost the complete opposite.
Soarin’
We don’t really need to go into too much detail with this one since the whole ride is a sensory experience for your nose. However, two scenes really stand out to our team, and they may not be what you’re thinking. While we love the smell of oranges at the end of the ride, we find the smell of the savanna in Africa to be unforgettable.

We also love the fresh beach smell you get when you fly over the Fiji Islands. We find it to be very refreshing, and it makes us relax and smile, especially when paired with the beautiful visual!
After Fireworks Shows
While watching the fireworks themselves is so exciting, the faint smell of smoke in the air right after the fireworks also triggers those happy memories for a lot of Disney fans.

To many, it reminds them of the tail-end of their Disney World day, after they’ve experienced all the magic and are pleasantly tired, ready to crawl into bed and do it all again the next day.
The Library of Alexandria Burning in Spaceship Earth
Okay, so it’s not a very happy memory in the history of human civilization, but Spaceship Earth is a fan-favorite ride, and the smell of the Library of Alexandria burning (what is it with Disney fans and fire?) is unforgettable.

This is one of, if not the, most distinguishable smell in this whole ride, and it’s been around for decades. Many 80s EPCOT kids remember this ride vividly, and one smell will transport them back to their childhood.
Karamell-Kuche
Out of all the spots in the World Showcase, Karamell-Kuche in the Germany Pavilion will draw you in with its intoxicating smell of sweet caramel.

This a fan-favorite snack location of many EPCOT visitors, specifically for their caramel popcorn, which you can get fresh by the bag! If you’ve got a sweet tooth, we say allow the smell to bring you to the door and purchase a fresh bag — you won’t regret it!
The Skunk in Journey into Imagination with Figment
Our last one isn’t as pleasant, but it sure is memorable — toward the end of Journey Into Imagination with Figment, Figment pulls the lever in the smell room, and all three slots land on a skunk. When you see that, hold your breath!

Trust us when we say Disney mimicked the smell of a skunk VERY well. If you’ve never smelt one before…prepare yourselves, it’s VERY strong. And not many people want a candle smelling of this scent. But if you happen to smell it out in the world, it may remind you of the ride and make you laugh!

There are tons of other smells around Disney that will likely stick with you for many years, but these are just some of the most memorable. As always, be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news!
