Fans Are Freaking Out Over This Magic Kingdom Change in Disney World

Disney just dropped a ton of new announcements at Destination D23 about changes coming to the parks and beyond.

And when changes are announced, Disney fans tend to get a little… perturbed, to say the least. An iconic Magic Kingdom attraction is getting a bit of an update, but it seems like fans aren’t too happy about it!

At Destination D23, Disney announced that Country Bear Jamboree is getting some updates! The classic Frontierland attraction that features animatronic bears will be revamped in 2024.

Disney shared that The Country Bear will be learning some new songs and performing a COMPLETELY new act. The new show takes inspiration from classic Nashville variety shows, and Disney even involved Nashville musicians to make the new arrangements for the songs.

We even got to see a new poster for Country Bear Musical Jamboree, opening in 2024. And, we heard a rockabilly version of “Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book.

But, from what we’ve seen — not everyone is excited about these upcoming changes. One reader responded to our social media post about the updates, saying that Country Bear Jamboree was, “…from another time …. it was …. Disney …. now it will be just any other theme park in the world.”

Hello!

We received similar replies on our Facebook page — it seems like fans aren’t happy about this classic Disney World attraction being updated (even if it probably needs it)! Nostalgia can be a heck of a drug, and we understand why some people might not want these changes to actually happen.

Another reader shared, “I will miss the campiness of the original!” and we can’t say we disagree. Others simply commented at how sad this news made them.

One reader replied, “The songs were dated but I am sooooo happy they are keeping the attraction… this is a great way to keep the Disney and update the experience.”

Similarly, another reader said, “I am good with it being updated. I just hope they do a good job. Too many updates were epic failures like Figment.”

A few responses we got talked about the possibility of keeping both shows — the classic one and the updated one — and just running them at alternating times. It’s possible that Disney wouldn’t be able to pull this off depending on how extensive the updates will be to the actual show elements and animatronics.

Ultimately, change is a constant in Disney World and it’s something that we have to deal with as fans. Whether we like those changes is a different story, but you can be sure we’ll be on the lookout for more news that could impact your next trip to the parks.

  1. I think its a good idea. I haven’t been in it for years due to how outdated it was, even though it was my favorite back then. My grandkids lives are much different from their parents of 30 or so years ago.

  2. Most people appear to have forgotten that the Country Bears have already performed two other alternate shows, one themed to Christmas, and the other a “Vacation Hoedown.” Sometime the “BIGGEST” Disney fans are the ones who seem to know the least about Disney history.
