NEWS: Idalia Officially Named Hurricane Ahead of Making Landfall in Florida

We’ve been carefully monitoring the path of Tropical Storm Idalia as it heads toward Florida.

The storm’s trajectory has changed a few times, but Floridians are preparing for the possibility of it making landfall this week. On top of that, those who are hoping to travel to Florida soon may need to make accommodations for airport delays and other weather-related issues. But now, we’ve got an update on the storm itself.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Idalia has now become Hurricane Idalia. Currently, there is a danger of life-threatening storm surge along Florida’s Gulf Coast, where the storm is expected to make landfall sometime Wednesday morning.

The main Hurricane Warning Area is along the Florida Gulf Coast, where hurricane storm conditions are to be expected. It’s also predicted that there will be heavy rainfall and possible urban flooding along the west coast of Florida, the Florida Panhandle, southern Georgia, western Cuba, and the eastern part of the Carolinas.
