NEWS: Disney World Hotel UPDATE Announced for Hurricane Idalia

Hurricane Idalia is approaching Florida, and Disney World is making the necessary preparations.

For folks with trips planned during the storm, it’s important to stay updated on all the latest information so you can know what to expect. Disney hasn’t announced any closures just yet — but they did share an important hotel update you might need to know about!

Disney has shared an important update for guests staying at Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

As Hurricane Idalia approaches, Disney is “asking that all Fort Wilderness Guests remove and stow all outside items, including tents and decor, and take in camper awnings by 6PM ET on August 29th.

Not only that, but Disney shared that if you would like to leave earlier than planned or potentially discuss other options for your stay, you can call them at (407) 939-2744.

Disney has also announced that “Florida residents evacuating from the storm and first responders assisting in storm-related recovery efforts may also receive 50% off Disney Resort hotel stays on the evenings of August 29-31, 2023. For evacuees, please call 407-W-DISNEY for details. For first responders, please call 407-828-3200 (Option 3). This applies to new bookings only and is based on availability.”

It’s hurricane season!

Disney World’s Weather Updates & Information page was updated at 8PM on August 28th with a statement on Tropical Storm Idalia: “Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. We are closely monitoring the path of the projected weather as we continue to prioritize the safety of our Guests and Cast Members.”

According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Idalia has become Hurricane Idalia. Currently, there is a danger of life-threatening storm surge along Florida’s Gulf Coast, where the storm is expected to make landfall sometime Wednesday morning.
