4 Long Term Closures Continue in Disney World in September

Disney World closures are something to expect on your Disney World vacation.

There are all kinds of closures, though. For example, there are short-term closures, like when rides close for weather or have technical difficulties, and there are also long-term closures due to construction, renovations, and more. So if you’re visiting the parks in September, here are four long-term closures you need to know about!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, formerly Splash Mountain, is still under construction and will be until 2024.

We love keeping up with the changes happening around the ride that we can see, but we know there’s a lot more going on inside, and it still has a long way to go.

Barrel Bridge on Tom Sawyer Island

While we’re on the subject of Magic Kingdom, the Barrel Bridge located on Tom Sawyer Island recently disappeared, and Cast Members are unsure when it will return.

The bridge is literally gone

Many guests don’t even realize that Tom Sawyer Island is part of the park because you have to take a special raft from Frontierland over to the island, and it’s easy to miss. The Barrel Bridge allows you to head over to another part of the island, but since it’s, well, gone, you aren’t able to head over there right now.

Voyage of The Little Mermaid

Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Voyage of The Little Mermaid has been closed ever since the park reopened in 2020.

Disney hasn’t made an announcement yet about the building, whether it’ll return or be transformed into something else, so we’re all just waiting in limbo for Disney to decide its fate.

Blizzard Beach

Blizzard Beach is closed right now, but luckily Typhoon Lagoon is still open!

It’s under refurbishment right now and will likely swap with Typhoon Lagoon eventually when that waterpark closes for refurbishment.

Olaf!

Note that this doesn’t mean these are the ONLY closures that will happen in Disney World in September, but these are some of the ones we KNOW will be closed (for a while, at least). Be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news!

  1. Tom Sawyer Island is one of the best attractions in all of Magic Kingdom in my opinion. So much to explore and do. It requires an imagination and an adventurer’s spirit.
