We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: the summer heat in Disney World is not to be trifled with.

Things are heating up, and we’ve got plenty of tips on how you can beat the heat and stay cool. If you’re heading to Disney World sometime this week, though, we’ve got a word of warning for you!

The heat in Disney World is no joke, and local Orlando meteorologists are warning folks to take precautions. Brian Shields with WFTV has shared that this is the hottest week of the year. He said, “This is serious heat, even by Florida standards.” On August 7th, the heat index was 115 degrees.

Eric Burris with WESH posted that there were “all kinds of heat advisories” throughout the Central Florida area as well. The “feels like” temperatures were between 108 and 114 degrees.

If you’re heading to Disney World this week, pay attention to the weather and be prepared! Heat exhaustion can set in quickly, and dehydration sickness is no joke.

The most common signs indicating that you’re suffering from heat exhaustion are confusion, dizziness and/or fainting, fatigue, headache, muscle cramps, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, pale skin, sweating more than normal, and rapid heartbeat.

Make sure you take plenty of breaks, drink lots of water, and are listening to the way your body feels! If you start to feel less than stellar, head to the First Aid Center or find the nearest Cast Member for help. Nothing ruins a Disney World vacation faster than dehydration and a potential medical emergency. The heat in Disney World is no joke!

  1. I was there last week and it was hellishly hot. I can’t imagine it even hotter. Disney needs to install alot more bottle filler water dispensers with chilled water and maybe even ice dispensers. It’s unreasonable to expect people to buy bottled water at $3.75 or only have water fountains where the water is lukewarm.

    1. My friend and I were also there last week. Any counter service will provide ice water, just walk up to the pick up window and ask (you don’t have to buy anything or stand in the order line). Many places gave us two cups if we asked. Also you can sit in these places as well, we cooled down and had our own snacks and ice water in Pinnochio Village Haus, Pecos Bill, Sunshine Seasons, etc.
