Put That Thing Back Where It Came From Or So Help Me — Something STRANGE Is Happening in EPCOT

Well, we hope you enjoyed the view while it lasted because preparations are underway in EPCOT.

Since Harmonious wrapped up its 18-month-long run at EPCOT to celebrate Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebration, fans of an empty lagoon were once again returned to a clear view of the back side of EPCOT. Recent changes however hinted at the return of the ONE THING people hated most and now there’s evidence!

We recently ventured out to EPCOT to take a stroll and we decided to stop for a moment and take in the sights of the World Showcase Lagoon. It’s been a welcomed change to be able to see all of the countries around the World Showcase so clearly once again but something hints that even MORE change is coming soon. This equipment is different in comparison to the equipment we last saw that was assisting in removing the underwater pieces of the previous barges.

What’s that!?

We noticed lots of work going on in the very center of the lagoon including the addition of a large crane nearby. Several floating watercraft and maybe the beginning stages of more permanent stands also appeared. This looks to us like we could be seeing the installation of the NEW barges to the lagoon waterfront way sooner than we thought.

A wider look shows the active construction at several spots along the lagoon and hints at much larger operations underway, possibly to install the upcoming barges for the “to be named” EPCOT nighttime spectacular that is set to debut later this year.

While there’s still a lot left to be known and announced all we can do at this point is sit back and continue to watch for the installation and how this will affect our views of the once-clear World Showcase.
