Why You Won’t Catch Us at These Disney World Hotels in 2024

Disney World is full of amazing hotels but there are some you may want to totally AVOID.

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort

There are some spots you may want to avoid if eating fantastic food at the hotel is a top priority. There are others that you might want to steer clear of right now because of the level of ongoing construction happening there. But in 2024, there’s a very specific reason why you may not want to book a stay at 2 of Disney’s hotels.

Is your traveling group a pool group? Is a visit to the hotel pool absolutely critical to your vacation? Is it something the kiddos (or adults) simply can’t go without? Well, during 2024, the Disney World hotels below will be doing some refurbishment work on certain pools which will result in the temporary CLOSURE of those pools for a certain period of time. That could seriously impact your desire to stay at those hotels, so let’s go through everything you need to know.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

First up, we have Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. At this hotel, the themed Fuentes del Morro Pool will be CLOSED for routine maintenance from January 2024 all the way through April 2024. Disney has warned that because of this closure, guests could see or hear construction work during daytime hours.

Now, it’s not all bad. While the Fuentes del Morro Pool is closed, guests will be able to swim at any of the 5 leisure pools at the hotel. But those aren’t quite the same as the highly themed main pool, so that’s something to really carefully consider before booking a stay here.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter

Next up, we’ll head to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter. There, the hotel’s festive Dubloon Lagoon Pool will be CLOSED for routine maintenance from January 2024 through April 2024. Again, guests at the hotel may hear or see construction during daytime hours.

Doubloon Lagoon Pool

If you do want some pool time and you end up staying at French Quarter, you will be able to swim at the Ol’ Man Island Pool at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside during this closure period. But walking all the way over to this pool at the adjoining resort might not be the most ideal thing, so again it’s something to consider carefully.

And there you have it — 2 hotels with pool closures all scheduled for several months in early 2024. The good news is that these closures aren’t scheduled to last all year, but construction schedules can change so just be aware that things might not open as quickly as originally anticipated.

The other good news is that there are alternative pools available to visit at each spot (or at an adjoining hotel in the case of French Quarter), so you’ll still have some place to cool down.

All-Star Movies Pool (Mighty Ducks)

But, the bad news is that because these “main” pools will be shut down for a period of time, those alternative pools could be extremely PACKED if all guests decide to go visit them. So you might find your “relaxing” pool time to be a lot more hectic.

And it might not be nearly as entertaining or fun to visit some of the other pools if they’re not what you’re expecting or what you’re used to at these hotels.

Port Orleans French Quarter

All in all, whether these closures will impact your decision to stay at these hotels entirely depends on whether pool time is important to you and your group. Be sure to check with your traveling party ahead of time, see whether some time at the pool is essential to the vacation, and then make any adjustments if needed.
