“Anything Is Possible” — Johnny Depp Comments on Possible Return to Disney

Johnny Depp, the star of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, has had an eventful few years.

Disney distanced itself from the actor during his battle with ex-wife Amber Heard during their defamation trial, and he even willingly stepped down from his role in the Fantastic Beasts franchise for the final film for similar reasons. We’ve been fans of the Pirates franchise for years, and now Depp has mentioned he may be willing to return to Disney.

A close source to Johnny Depp said to People that Depp said “anything is possible” about returning to Disney and that “If it’s the right project, he’ll do it.” Depp has previously said that he felt “betrayed” when the company distanced itself from him, and it now seems his feelings may be changing.

Last year, a rumor was flying that Depp was returning to the franchise, which he told People was false. Right around that same time, the series producer Jerry Bruckheimer said that there were no plans for Depp to return in either of the two Pirates scripts that were being written, but that “the future is yet to be decided.”

However, a New York Times article from June 4th of this year claimed that Disney is seemingly “inching the door open” to collaborating with Depp again, and now that Depp seems to be willing, we’re looking forward to seeing what that might mean.

Depp was just recently at the Cannes Film Festival to promote his new film (which received a 7-minute standing ovation) and is set to direct the Al Pacino-starring biopic Modi in the near future. So while we’re unsure if he’ll be returning to play Captain Jack Sparrow, we do know he’s got lots of exciting things coming up.

  1. Just like Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones & makes the franchise. The same is true for Johnny Depp and the Pirates Franchise. No One wants to see a Pirates movie without Captain Jack Sparrow. I like his eclectic characters he has always played from Benny & Joon to Pirates. So I hope to see him back in some form with Disney
