NEWS: Disney Faces More Internal Shakeups

A LOT has been going on with the Walt Disney Company, even as it celebrates its 100th anniversary.

100 Years of Wonder

After Bob Iger returned to his role as CEO in November 2022, we’ve seen a company-wide restructuring, as well as thousands of employees being laid off. On top of that, Disney has also lost some executives in that time, with the most recent being Christine McCarthy stepping down as the company’s Chief Financial Officer. Now another executive has left the company.

According to Variety, Disney’s chief diversity officer and senior vice president Latondra Newton is leaving her role at the company after more than six years. Reportedly, Newton has plans to join another company’s corporate board and spend more time working with her own creative company.

Newton’s role with Disney included overseeing the company’s “commitment to produce entertainment that reflects a global audience and sustains a welcoming and inclusive workplace for everyone.”

After Newton leaves, Julie Merges will temporarily step into the position until Disney announces a new chief diversity officer. The diversity internal communications team will continue to report to Carrie Brown, Disney’s internal communications and engagement executive.
