Several Disney movies just got MAJOR updates.

We’ve seen Disney update the release dates for its movies in the past. That has included shifting when some big movies will hit theaters — like “The Haunted Mansion” movie. But now Disney has changed a WHOLE bunch of movie release dates for several future projects. Let’s take a look.
Marvel
Some of these changes have been shared on the Marvel website. Here’s a look at the updates:

Other Disney Movie Updates
In terms of other Disney movie updates, Variety has shared a look at them, and so has Deadline. Here’s a breakdown:
- DATE ANNOUNCED — Live-action “Moana” — June 27th, 2025 (it appears that the slot for this movie was previously July 2nd, 2025 per Deadline)
- DELAYED — “Avatar 3” — shifted from December 20th, 2024 to December 19, 2025
- DELAYED — “Avatar 4” — shifted from December 18th, 2026 to December 21st, 2029
- DELAYED– “Avatar 5” — shifted from December 22nd, 2028 to December 19th, 2031
- DELAYED — One upcoming “Star Wars” movie has been pushed from December 19th, 2025, to May 22nd, 2026

In terms of other updates:
- A new “Alien” movie (which will be produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Fede Alvarez) is set to debut on August 16th, 2024
- An Untitled “Star Wars” movie is set to be released on December 18th, 2026
- (Per Variety) “Another ‘Star Wars’ film is set for Dec. 17, 2027.“
- According to Deadline, The Amateur (a Rami Malek movie from 20th Centruy Studios) will debut on November 8th, 2024

Deadline also shares that Disney has “RSVP’d the following dates” for films that don’t yet have titles:
- September 6th, 2024
- March 21st, 2025 (instead of April 11, 2025)
- a Marvel movie for July 25th, 2025
- August 8th, 2025 (instead of August 15 that year)
- an MCU title on November 7th, 2025
Plus, one Disney movie that was set to debut on May 22nd, 2026, has been removed from the schedule.

So what’s causing these changes? Variety shares that the shifts are due in part to production delays and the ongoing WGA strike. Disney has paused filming on Blade and Thunderbolts, which has then impacted the rest of the Marvel films.
When it comes to Avatar, the space between those sequel films will reportedly allow “the post-production and visual effects department to continue expanding, developing and refining the different ecosystems across the vast world of Pandora.”

Of course, dates are subject to change again. We’ll keep an eye out for updates and let you know what we find. In the meantime, click here to see a NEW trailer Disney has dropped, or click here to leave your thoughts on Disney’s upcoming Pixar film.
