You know how we’re constantly mentioning the routine maintenance and upkeep that goes into Disney’s rides and attractions?

Well, the same goes for Disney’s resort hotels! Many of these hotels have been around for as long as we have, yet they still look shiny and new. It’s the magic of routine maintenance! One of the oldest Disney resort hotels is currently being transformed into a more modern version of itself — complete with new Disney Vacation Club Villas, a modernized lobby, and even reimagined restaurants and lounge spaces.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is often THE deluxe Disney resort that people think of when they imagine Disney World hotels. This resort has been undergoing all sorts of construction, and now, the construction has made its way into the hotel lobby!

Disney previously made announcements about changes coming to the lobby but it appears this may NOT be related to that. We spoke to a Cast Member at the Grand Floridian who indicated that these construction walls are actually related to painting for room renovations, not the lobby refurbishment. The Cast Member shared that while the lobby refurbishment is not happening right now, it is still set to happen eventually.
Disney said that the reimagined lobby of this ‘Grand’ resort will “will maintain the classic theming [guests] know and love with some fresh new enhancements.” Many fans have suspected that the reimagining will take some inspiration from Mary Poppins, to match the newly-remodeled Citrico’s and hotel rooms.

If you’re visiting the Grand Floridian for lunch, shopping, or simply for a look around, this is just a warning that construction is taking place in the lobby. Although there isn’t really a safety hazard, you won’t be able to see all the glamour of the Grand Floridian in its true state until the construction is complete!

Plus, you might encounter some loud noises — good to keep in mind if you or someone in your party is easily overstimulated or affected by loud, sudden noises.

We’ll keep an eye out for updates in this space. If you’re looking for more Disney news, reviews, and updates, make sure to follow along for more so that you never miss a thing! Click the link below to see more Disney resort construction that might affect your visit.

What do you think about the changes being made at Disney’s Grand Floridian? Let us know in the comments!
For the love of god, please stop messing with the GF. I sincerely hope they don’t screw up the lobby or exterior areas by changing them excessively or “modernizing” them the way they did Citricos and Mizner’s. This is a classic example of Disney management fixing what was never broken to begin with. We’ve already lost the aforementioned Mizner’s Lounge (still waiting to hear what beauty and the beast has to do with the theme of “old Florida” btw), the GF orchestra, the old Citricos, and 1900 Park Fair. I don’t need to be bludgeoned over the head with characters everywhere I turn. Also, I, and I’m sure most fans, don’t expect it to be treated like a museum piece, but there’s no respecting the past, and too much of a flavor-of-the-month mindset with upper management when making these decisions. I guess I should be glad I got to experience the Grand when it was truly that, Grand, and not a pale imitation of its former self.
