Movie fans we’ve got some BIG news for you!

Disney’s been super busy gearing up for some great new movies on the horizon with The Little Mermaid live-action movie, Lilo & Stitch live-action movie, and several other big silver screen productions — and now a recently resurfaced program might help make seeing all these titles easier on your budget.
Fans of MoviePass will know that this program retired when the company went bankrupt in 2020. This unique subscription service allowed members to view theatrically released movies multiple times a month for one monthly fee per person. But we’ve got some great news — MoviePass is BACK!

MoviePass members can now choose from more than 4,000 theater locations including mainstream theater brands like AMC Theatres, Regal Cinemas, and Cinemark. However, the new version of MoviePass will look different than it has in the past.

The new plans start at $10 per month for just 1-3 movies per month (whereas the previous plan was $9.95 per month for 1 movie per day) and tops out at $40 per month for up to 30 movies. MoviePass has now switched to a credit-based approach giving options to how many titles a subscriber is able to see on their membership tier.

“By opening up MoviePass to film lovers nationwide, we are expanding our support of the movie theater industry by helping drive traffic to all theaters during the critical summer season,” said Stacy Spikes, MoviePass co-founder, and CEO. Spikes was also on the original founding team for MoviePass in 2011.

Until recently MoviePass was only available in select states on a waitlist since the announcement that the company would be reviving the MoviePass program in 2021 and has just launched an expansion to nationwide theaters. According to reps for MoviePass, members can attend movies at any theater that accepts Mastercard payments. If you’re visiting a movie theater that partners directly with MoviePass, the service taps into the theater’s ticketing system and you can use the MoviePass app to purchase e-tickets and select your seats. If this is a service you find interesting you can view a full list of participating theaters here.
