As a NEW Meet-and-Greet Opens, 6 Attractions Remain CLOSED in Disney World

This is an exciting week for Disney fans! On May 26th, the new The Little Mermaid movie comes out in theaters. Along with the premiere, there will be new Ariel meet-and-greets at Disney World and Disneyland!

If you’re heading to Disney World soon, don’t miss out on the chance to meet Ariel in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. But you should also be prepared for some ride and attraction CLOSURES that will impact your vacation. To help you get ready for your trip, we compiled a list of all the closures in Disney World from May 21st through the 27th.

Magic Kingdom Closures

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Splash Mountain closed on January 23rd, and it’ll remain closed until late 2024.

Disney is re-theming the ride to give it a Princess and the Frog theme. When it reopens, it’ll be called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. On a recent trip, we noticed that the tree stump at the top of this ride has been removed. We’ll keep an eye out for more updates.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Closures

The Boneyard

The Boneyard is an interactive dinosaur-themed play area for kids in DinoLand U.S.A. This area is now closed for a long refurbishment (which started on May 1st).

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Closures

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closed a while ago for the start of a long refurbishment.

This coaster will likely be closed for at least a few weeks, possibly a few months. Disney announced that it should reopen in the summer of 2023, although they did not provide a specific reopening date. For now, it’s scheduled to be closed at least through mid-July.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

This stage show about The Little Mermaid has been closed for a long time in Hollywood Studios.

Disney hasn’t announced when or if the show will reopen.

We have some good news for Little Mermaid fans, though! There’s a NEW Ariel meet-and-greet coming to Hollywood Studios.

With the live-action Little Mermaid movie coming out, you’ll be able to meet Ariel at the Walt Disney Presents theater.

Refreshment Station

This little snack kiosk near Test Track has been through a few different renovations. This spot now has a new sign that says “Refreshment Station,” and there appear to be new tables and benches inside.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach

Disney World’s Blizzard Beach Water Park has closed for refurbishments. Disney hasn’t announced how long this closure will last.

Typhoon Lagoon — Disney World’s other water park — has reopened.
