Traveling can be a big hassle and cause a lot of stress.

We keep our eyes peeled for all the latest flight deals to help you save money and share tons of tips and tricks to help your travel day run as smoothly as possible. If you visit the Orlando International Airport soon, you may find that security is faster than you remember — here’s why.
According to Business Insider, TSA is rolling out facial recognition technology to match travelers’ IDs. This new system is called CAT-2.

The technology was introduced back in 2022. Passengers place their ID into the unit to get it scanned, which scans the passenger’s face at the same time as the ID. The system automatically checks if the passenger is flying that day and if the document being scanned is valid.

This means that passengers will no longer need to hand their ID to a security guard to get it scanned, which minimizes human interaction at security checkpoints.

TSA is rolling out the technology to more airports nationwide, including the Orlando International Airport. In fact, you may see the system being used at Reagan National near Washington, D.C., as well as airports in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, San Jose, Gulfport-Biloxi, and Jackson in Mississippi, according to LiveNowFox.com.

Currently, the technology is not at every single security checkpoint at these airports, so passengers may or may not use the new system. You may still need to hand your ID to a TSA agent — the tech is still in its early phases.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated as we hear more about this new system, so stay tuned to AllEars!
