BIG CLUE Revealed About a NEW Store That Could Come to Universal’s Epic Universe

Things are ramping up as Universal Orlando continues to make progress on its brand-new park.

Back in 2019, Universal announced plans to build a new park, Epic Universe, to expand its offerings in Orlando. Since then, we’ve gotten some hints about what we might be able to expect when the new park opens up, and we’ve been eagerly watching the construction progress happening there. And now, some new documents have provided more clues about what might be in the works!

We previously saw some new trademarks filed by Universal and Dreamworks that gave us some hints about what could be coming in the future. Now, a new trademark has been filed that has given us an idea of what a new store at the park could be named.

Potential Epic Universe Store — ODDITIES & MONSTROSITIES

The main filing here is one for what could become a new store at Epic Universe. The name that has been trademarked is Oddities & Monstrosities! One land that is rumored to be part of Epic Universe is a section themed around classic Universal Monsters, so a store themed Oddities & Monstrosities could fit right into this space.

In the concept art already shared, there appears to be a large structure in the bottom left, a larger/tall structure on the upper left, a large structure in the upper center (likely an attraction), and a row of houses/buildings in the upper right.

The trademark was filed on May 2nd, 2023, and is for “Retail store services featuring apparel, gifts, and general consumer merchandise” as well as “Online retail store services featuring apparel, gifts, and general consumer merchandise.” The applicant was Universal City Studios LLC.

The remainder of the updates feature some more updated trademarks along with some older ones that have been filed in previous years, so we’ll break down the updates.

Potential Epic Universe Hotel — UNIVERSAL’S TERRA LUNA RESORT

Back in 2022, a trademark was filed for Universal’s Terra Luna Resort, which could end up being the name of a hotel for Epic Universe. The applicant was Universal City Studios LLC, and the trademark was for “Hotel catering services; Hotel accommodation services; Provision of conference, exhibition and meeting facilities; Resort hotel accommodation services; [and] Restaurant services.”

Now, it looks like a slightly updated trademark has been filed for “Universal Terra Luna Resort.” Basically, it appears to be the same name without the possessive nature at the end of “Universal.”

This trademark was filed in March 2023 and is for mostly similar purposes with a few adjustments. This one has been filed for “Hotel catering services; Hotel services; Provision of conference, exhibition and meeting facilities; Resort hotel services; [and] Restaurant services.” (It looks like some of the “accommodation” terms were removed in this one.)

So it’s possible that we could see a tiny shift in the name there.

Potential Epic Universe Hotel — UNIVERSAL STELLA NOVA RESORT

The same has happened with the name of another potential Epic Universe hotel. In 2022, a trademark for “Universal’s Stella Nova Resort” was filed for the following uses “Hotel catering services; Hotel services; Provision of conference, exhibition and meeting facilities; Resort hotel services; [and] Restaurant services.”

In March 2023, another trademark was filed for a slightly updated name “Universal Stella Nova Resort,” for mostly the same purposes with some changes. This one is for “Hotel accommodation services; Provision of conference, exhibition and meeting facilities; [and] Resort hotel accommodation services.” (It looks like hotel catering services and restaurant services are missing from this one.)

Potential Epic Universe Hotel — UNIVERSAL HELIOS GRAND HOTEL

And finally, the same thing happened with another potential hotel name. In 2021, a trademark was filed for “Universal’s Helios Grand Hotel” for use in “Hotel catering services; Hotel services; Provision of conference, exhibition and meeting facilities; [and] Restaurant services.”

In March of 2023, another trademark was filed for a slightly updated name —
“Universal Helios Grand Hotel.” It is for “Hotel services; Resort hotel services; Restaurant services; Provision of conference, exhibit, and meeting facilities; [and] Hotel catering services.”

Overall those look to be small changes on the hotel side, but still worth noting. We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for more changes related to Epic Universe in the coming weeks and months.
